Every year CEMEX invests more than £30 million in UK sustainability-related projects and wanted to define its strategy for a clear vision of what the companies objectives were and it’s positioning around specific sustainability issues.
Brief
To help shape the company’s leadership position on environmental issues and sustainable operating practices, and develop positioning on specific environmental issues critical to the industry.
CEMEX recognised the need to have a clear and defined leadership position on sustainability issues facing the company and industry as a whole.
Clear Thinking
Madano captured and articulated CEMEX’s leadership position on environmental issues and sustainable operating practice under a coherent framework. This work was then extended to include specific issues such as carbon capture and storage, climate change, market mechanisms and biodiversity.
Part of the challenge was to ensure that the positioning work was accessible to and engaging for the company’s management across the business in some 53 different countries.
Outcome
Internal engagement papers developed and delivered to help the company understand the challenges ahead.
Global positions developed on a number of key environmental issues.
Paper used across the international business with buy-in from the senior management team.
